Espen Sommer Eide – Selected Works

Espen Sommer Eide – artist/composer

"What am I? Nosing here, turning leaves over
following a faint stain to the river’s edge..."
– Ted Hughes, Wodwo

A composer, disillusioned by the limits and weakness of the human imagination, decides to travel back to nature. He journeys to the rivers and highlands of Northern Norway, hoping to get in touch with other sources of imagination. The composition ‘Imaginalia’ is constructed of visions unsullied by human agency and emotional politics. The sensory biology of animals and plants becomes a visual score with rhythms and harmonies based on unknown principles. All the while the composer is constantly visited by ghosts of his own past, something that makes it ever more difficult to finish the composition ‘Imaginalia’.
